Not Gonna Lie — Business Can Suck. Here’s How to Keep Going

Running a heart-led business isn’t always sunshine and affirmations. Some days feel expansive and magical — and other days? Not so much.

There are moments when you're exhausted, second-guessing everything, and wondering if it's even worth it. I’ve had those days too — the kind where I’m one spreadsheet away from burnout, wondering what the universe is trying to teach me, and needing to remind myself why I started.

Truthfully? This post is just as much a reminder for me as it is for you.

Some days, the path feels heavy. One moment you're full of ideas and flow, and the next, you're spiralling into self-doubt. The highs and lows of building something soul-led are real — but so is the bigger picture that’s unfolding.

And here’s what I keep coming back to: you are exactly where you need to be — and what you’re creating is nothing short of magical.

So if you're in one of those seasons, here are 3 soulful ways to stay motivated when things feel heavy — and a powerful reminder to keep going, even when the magic feels far away.

1. Go Back to Your "Why"
When the road feels bumpy, the most powerful thing you can do is return to your "why."

Your "why" is the soul of your business — the heart-centred reason you started this journey in the first place.

Simon Sinek says it beautifully in his teaching "Start With Why – How Great Leaders Inspire Action".

He reminds us that people don’t buy what you do; they buy why you do it. It's your deeper purpose, not just your products or services, that inspires connection and lasting impact.

So today, pause for a moment. Breathe.

Ask yourself: Why am I doing this?

Reconnect with that vision, that dream, that soul calling that led you here. Let it anchor you. Let it inspire your next move. You didn’t come this far to only come this far — there’s a bigger picture unfolding, and your “why” is lighting the way.

2. Celebrate Every Win

It’s so easy to get caught up in what’s not working – the sales that didn’t happen, the numbers that aren’t growing fast enough. I feel you.

But the real magic is in choosing to notice what is working.

Look at the love you’re receiving – the heartfelt reviews from people you’ve touched, the steady growth of your community, the fact that your health is holding you through it all, the support of a partner or family member, the beautiful space you get to call home. These are wins, too.

One thing I love to do is keep a gratitude journal.

Every full moon, I sit down and write out all the wins, blessings, and magical moments from the past month — big and small.
It’s a sacred pause that reminds me just how much beauty is unfolding, even when some days feel heavy.

Celebrate every win, no matter how small.
The more we lean into gratitude, the more abundance flows in.
You’re doing so much better than you think.

3.Take It One Step at a Time

When everything feels overwhelming, it’s usually a sign that we’re too much in our heads — overthinking, overplanning, trying to control every detail.

Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is to step away from the work, even just for a little while. Breathe. Go outside. Let your soul catch up with you.
A different perspective can shift everything.

Building a heart-led business can feel like standing at the bottom of a huge mountain. It’s tempting to stare up at the peak and wonder how you’ll ever make it. But you don’t have to climb the whole mountain today. All you have to do is take the next step. Then the next. And then the next.

The universe has its own beautiful timing and purpose. Trust it.

Not everything is meant to happen all at once. As Gandalf wisely tells Frodo in The Fellowship of the Ring, many wish they weren't given the burdens they carry — but all we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.

You were given your dreams, your gifts, your mission for a reason. Keep showing up. Keep walking. One sacred step at a time.

Before you dive back into your day, I want to leave you with something that feels like a powerful pep talk for your soul.

It’s an audio on Spotify called Permission, and it’s the reminder we all need sometimes:

🤎 You are already enough.
🤎 Your worth isn’t measured by how much you do.
🤎 Being busy is not a badge of honor.

You don’t have to hustle harder or carry it all to prove anything — you are enough, exactly as you are.

Let these words be a soul reset whenever you need to remember:

Your value has never been in what you do, but in who you are.

And if today feels heavy, know this —

You are not behind.

You are not failing.

You are being shaped, strengthened, and prepared for everything you’ve been dreaming of.

Trust the season you're in. Trust yourself. Trust the magic that's unfolding, even when you can't see it yet.

Keep going. The world needs your light. ✨
