About a year ago, I tried my hand at making a Canva tutorial. Spent nearly an hour on it, but each time I watched it back, I just wasn't feeling it. So, what did I do? Yup, you guessed it – I hit that record button again. And again. And again. But did any of those takes see the light of day? Nope, not a chance.
What was holding me back? Well, the usual suspects – feeling not good enough, not an expert enough, and the classic impostor syndrome kicking in. Add to that the fear of being judged or worse, rejected.
But a shift happened in me. When I did my annual business review and intention setting for 2024 (I used Secret Owl Society’s and Leonie Dawson workbooks), I started thinking more about how I could serve the community, and less about me. I wanted to help those just starting their coaching journey, those who want to share their light and yet stuck in the design process.
I also recently stumbled upon fantastic YouTubers doing their thing – sharing snippets of life, creating digital art, cooking up a storm – just being their authentic selves. And I thought: I could totally do that too!
So, last Monday, I thought of recording myself editing a digital cheque for a friend and throw in some shots of my morning walks in the neighbourhood. Maybe, just maybe, my video could help someone out there.
And guess what? I did it! My first Canva tutorial on my Youtube channel 🎉
Sure, I'm still figuring things out, didn't use any fancy gear, just my trusty MacBook and Canva for editing. YouTube threw a few verification hurdles my way, but we got there in the end. The first video of hopefully many more!
For this video tutorial, I tweaked the Manifesting Cheque template in Canva for my Feng Shui enthusiast friend. We're getting ready for Lunar New Year this weekend – a tradition we've kept alive for years. And let me tell you, when paired with good intentions, these checks can work wonders. I have also thrown in a few tips when designing in Canva.
